Valery P. Bogdanov
Vice-President of the Republic of Kalmykia
Born 1941 in the collective farm "Ulan Kheech" Yashkul region. In 1951 the family moved to collective farm "Gashunsky", where his father was appointed as director. Finished 10 years of secondary school.
In 1958 after the school was accepted to the school of cinema mechanics in Bataysk and them worked as a comena mechanic before the military service. When drafted to the military he served 3.5 years in the Navy. After returning from the service he worked in the construction for the collective farm. In 1964 entered the Volgograd Institute of Agriculture, graduated with the major "Agronomy and Irrigation". All the following work was closely connected with agriculture. Since 1969 he work as agronomist, senior agronomist of the collective farm "Tavn-Gashunsky" and Agricultural Board of Yashkulsky region.
In 1973 he was trasfered to the position of instructor at the Agricultural Department and in 1976 appointed the director of collective farm "Gashunsky". He worked as the director 7 years. In 1982 appointed the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and then the Minister of Melioration and Water Industry. 1987 to 1990 was the Head of Agrarian Department.
1990 to 1991 he worked as the second secretary of the regional party committee.
Before the election as Vice-President in 1993 he held the position of Head of Water Industry Board of the Republic of Kalmykia.
Married, has 3 sons and 1 daughter.
